TMY Methodology
The generation of a Typical Meteorological Year (TMY) in Meteonorm is a two-step process. First, long-term monthly climate averages for a specific location are calculated using a spatial interpolation model. Second, these monthly averages are used as a statistical baseline to stochastically generate a realistic, high-resolution time series for a whole year.
This process ensures that the generated time series is representative of the long-term climate at the location, while also capturing the natural, short-term variability of real-world weather.
