TMY

A TMY is a one-year sequence of hourly and minute meteorological data (including all available parameters like solar radiation, temperature, humidity, wind speed) generated so that it best reflects average long-term climate characteristics for a given location. Meteonorm TMY are based on a chain of algorithms developed specifically for the use of solar energy. The climate period used is 2001-2020.

Meteonorm TMY are based on synthetic generation of the full year using statistical models based on long-term climatological data. Since it is not based on the selection-based method (as e.g. Sandia method or TMY from NREL) based on measured time series it is fully adaptable to local climates independent of a measurement station.

For Climate TMY reanalysis, satellite data and ground data are blended to obtain optimal values.

TMY data can be accessed via the /climate/tmy endpoint.
